Chair yoga is an excellent practice for people who find it difficult to get up and down from the ground. It would be well suited for people who have had a recent injury or illness or have difficulty with their balance. Beginners to yoga are more than welcome. Chair Yoga classes are held in the Cleveland studio each Monday and Friday from 10:45-12:00.
What can I expect in a Chair Yoga Class?
In a Class, you can expect to do what is traditionally done in a regular Hatha Yoga Class. In Chair Yoga we do our asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practice), then finish the class with meditation.
How do I know if I am ready for class if I have recently had surgery or an illness?
It is important not to rush back into a yoga practice or exercise if you have had a recent injury or illness. Rushing back into practice or if you do the wrong type of exercise could result in further injury or a longer period of healing time. The right practice at the right level for your own healing is essential. For people that need an individually designed practice, yoga therapy would be more appropriate. Group chair yoga classes are suitable for those who are ready for a regular yoga practice but are unable or stand or are unable to use the floor.
